ELIGIBILITY
To participate in Running with paws children must be eight years or older as of the 19th of October 2024.
Only adult entrants – sixteen years and older can run/walk with a dog. They are responsible for their Dog at all times. The rest of the family is welcome to participate alongside them.
Children between eight and sixteen years of age must be accompanied by an adult that is also participating.

EVENT OPTIONS
You can run/walk with or without a dog in the
2.5 km, 5 km or 10 km events.
Dogs will be separated into two groups for the different events. Small breeds into one group and medium/large breeds into the other.

COMPULSORY RACE BRIEFING
There will be a compulsory race briefing at 7.45 am the near the start line. All competitors must attend this.

PARKING
Will be available in a paddock near the event venue on Smart Road, New Plymouth. It will be sign posted and maned by marshals that will guide you.
​
TOILETS
Portaloos will be available at the event venue.
​

RACE NUMBERS
All competitors will be issued with a race number. Competitors who have entered prior to the event will be able to pick up their race pack on the 14th of October 2024 at Pet Essentials 65 - 67 Molesworth street, New Plymouth between 2pm and 4 pm. The race number is to be pinned to the front of your shirt. Please record any medical conditions you may have on the reverse of
the race bib.
Dogs must wear a dog band (provided in your registration pack). This is to be placed around their collar. Please write your dog's name, your name, bib number and an emergency contact number on the back of this band. This contact must be available to pick up the dog in event of pet/owner separation, minor injury or if the dog retires early from the event.
DRINK STATIONS
A drink station for humans and our furry friends will be available at approximately the 3 km mark for the 5km and 10 km distances. Water will be available at the start/finish.

HUMAN DOG RETIRE POLICY
If both parties decide to retire, then please make a
marshal know at your nearest manned point or
water station.
​
No wheeled conveyances ie, Bikes, wheelchairs, buggies or strollers are allowed on the course.
​
PLEASE CLEAN UP AFTER YOUR DOG
Please make sure that you bring along some Doggie-Doo bags so that you can clean up if your dog needs to go to the toilet. There will be rubbish bins available to dispose of this at the venue.
​
Those who willingly disobey dog/human rules and affect the health and safety of others will be disqualified and asked to leave.

REFUNDS
No refunds will be made unless the organisers are notified in writing by the 17th September 2024. No refunds will be made after this date. Refunds incur a 25% administration fee based on the entry fee paid.
​
CANCELLATION
In extreme weather the event maybe cancelled at any time with no refunds.
If at the time of the event Covid restrictions are in force to the extent the event is not viable, the event will be cancelled. Competitors will then have the option of receiving a full refund, transfer to the following year.
